Dan Brooke is the General Manager of Discovery Networks, UK. He joined in November 2005 and reports directly to Greg Ricca, President & CEO of Discovery Networks International.

He oversees all programming, production, development, marketing, sales, distribution and operations for Discovery’s eleven UK television brands, including Discovery Channel and Discovery Real Time.

Dan joined Discovery from Channel 4, where he served in various capacities over a period of seven years. Most recently he served as Controller of the broadcaster’s digital channels. In this role he built a portfolio of profitable, high quality and durable digital channel brands in a competitive marketplace and was responsible for multi-channel strategy, channel development and launches, including E4, FilmFour and More4. Under his leadership, E4 grew to become the second-largest digital network for 16-34 year-old profile in the UK.

From 2001 to 2003 he was General Manager of Channel 4’s digital channel E4, and was responsible for co-development of the network’s creative concept, channel positioning and launch marketing, resulting in the network receiving Media Week’s “Launch of the Year” award. From 1998 to 2000 he was Head of Marketing & Development for FilmFour, where he exceeded subscriber targets and received a PROMAX award for “Best Mixed-Media Campaign”.

Prior to working at Channel 4 Dan was Marketing Director for Paramount Comedy Channel and also held several posts with Chiat/Day in London, including Account Director.

Dan was voted “New Marketer of the Year” by the UK Marketing Society for the development and launch of E4, was cited as one of Media Week’s “Media Bosses of the Future” in 2001, and was also listed in the Top 10 of Marketing Magazine’s “Next Generation Power 100” in 2004. Dan graduated with Honours from Newcastle Polytechnic with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design, and also earned an MBA from the University of Stirling. He is a dual British and Brazilian citizen.
